Turning our attention back to those wild Ensueño hero figures, it’s the Man Spider! The tall 13″ blow mold body is shared with Batman and Superman. Other than the heads and suits changing, each of the three figures received different boot styles. Spiderman got some web lines in his boots to match his head. The spider emblem on his chest is pretty sweet, and it even has eight legs. Sometimes Ledy Spiderman emblems had ten legs.

Vuela de Verdad! That's no joke! He "really flies!" And yes, he is articulated, if straight up and down movement on his arms and legs are enough for you.

Hook this guy up to the ceiling and go wild! Take a good look at the instructions. You could likely build your own fly kit.

¡Papitas Picantes del Sorprendente Hombre Araña! Try some. Better yet, try to eat only one. You’ll soon find that the satisfying but overwhelming flavor of one will only make you crave more. And yes, we are still talking about vintage Lili Ledy Spiderman action figures. Heh.

In previous entries, we have discussed the Type 1/Type 2/Type 3 bodysuits in which we dress up our Lili Ledy action figures. And we certainly spend a good deal of time obsessing over hunting and collecting those variations for all of the Lili Ledy characters. But when it comes to the Ledy Spiderman, we have a different dimension of bodysuit variations, much like how MEGO introduced running changes in the USA Spiderman figure during its popularity. Go ahead and grab a wet nap with that bag of Spicy Spidey Chips.

Shown here are the two known bodysuit types and three known suit variations. You can even get into the variations within the variations! It appears to us that no two Type 2 “Thin Web” bodysuits seem to have exactly the same design. Sometimes the webs are bunched together and sometimes they’re a bit looser. No real style guide seems to have been set by the production team at Lili Ledy, which certainly keeps the game alive for the Ledy hunters!

The more standard Type 3 “Conventional” bodysuit has been seen with different hourglass widths. However, the non-conventional Type 3 “Double Back” bodysuit hasn’t been seen with any MORE unique variations. Surely it’s enough of a variation on its own!

As we dream and ogle at the variations, we must recall that three different Lili Ledy factories in Mexico were responsible for production. At this time, it is still unknown whether the figure variations occurred sporadically at different factories, within all factories or within one single factory. And even though we here at WorldMEGO focus solely on the MEGOs, Lili Ledy was a busy company with a wide range of toys on its manufacturing plate. Nevertheless, what remains Eternally Wonderful for the WorldMEGOheads is that Lili Ledy was allowed some freedom with the toys, due to the rights given to them by MEGO Corporation USA. So we just embrace the toy collector’s OCD and enjoy the thrilling parallel universe of Collect ‘em All.

It’s quite liberating to allow yourself to give in to the temptation.

And now we bring you . . . El Sorprendente Hombre Araña/The Amazing Spider-Man!

Ready for dessert? This oughta hit the spot! Here we have the back side of the Amazingly Spectacular Lili Ledy Hombre Araña Box. "El Sorprendente" translates as "The Amazing One", and no doubt the resurfacing of this original package piece was AMAZING to the staff at WorldMEGO.

Known jokingly as the "Double Back" Ledy Spiderman, this Type 3 bodysuit is certainly an oddity in the world of Lili Ledy Super Heroes.

Dry, cracking, scaly, red hands? Maybe you're not soaking in Palmolive. Ledy Spiderman is the only figure on a Type 1 Standard Lili Ledy Male Body with colored hands. Riddler has purple hands and a Fist Fighter body. Mr. Mxyzpltk has purple hands and a fat body.

MEGO Spiderman’s doctor should have noticed the dark circles under his eyes.

Update March 2010: New Suit Variation, “Double Front”

When it comes to Batman action figures, one glaring characteristic endures no matter the originating country. Batman is never smiling. Never ever. Not even a half grin. He always has a solemn, thought-provoking look on his face. Looking for a cheery Batman head sculpt is like trying to find a picture of Abraham Lincoln smiling.

BASA Batman from Peru seems to be the culmination of all that unhappiness. His austerity and furrowed brow hints at a man with no joy. The staff here at WorldMEGO sat around one night on a conference call and pondered Heath Ledger’s question. What follows is an artist’s rendition of that conversation:

Heath Ledger’s Joker posed a pertinent question: “Why so serious, Batman?” You’re a billionaire. You drive a cool car. Women love you. You even have a butler to see to your every need. Have to get through traffic in a hurry? Take the Batmobile. Can’t get there by land? Take the Batboat. Can’t get there by sea? Well, there’s always the Batcopter. Want to feel the wind in your face? Fire up the Batcycle. You could even swoop in by Batcape. But, why bother? The Batplane would be much faster.

Is it time to get to work? Use the Batpole! Need to make a quick phone call, just use the Batphone! How about some Monday Night Football on the Batmonitor?! Who knows? You could probably even Facebook on the Batcomputer. And surely the Batcave could be used for more than just business. C’mon guy, you’re living every man’s dream!

Remember when Jack Nicholson’s Joker asked, “Where do you get all those cool toys?” Surely they’d make you smile. Why take the stairs when you have a grappling hook? Need to make a quick getaway? Drop a few smoke bombs and zip out. You don’t have a simple boomerang, you have a Batarang. Is there any gadget you couldn’t pull from that utility belt? Let’s face it, man, you’re also living every kid’s dream.

Oh, and let’s not forget that suit. Is there anything cooler than the flourish of a cape? Is there anything more ominous than the specter of a bat? What wrestling federation wouldn’t make you their superstar?! You’re all mask’d and emblem’d and everything!

But oh no, it’s just not enough. You still have the grumbling cynicisms of a man who can’t find his way in the world. There is no laughter in your life. Oh, you say you’ve got some past tragedy? Well, haven’t we all? Get a clue, Batman. If indeed you are the World’s Greatest Detective, it’s time for you to rediscover the BIFF! the BANG! and the POW! that keeps you going. Enjoy all those things in your life. Take your money and buy a condo in Aruba. Settle down with some nice Batchica and have some Batkids. Maybe buy a Batdog or two. Life is too short. Does Cesar Romero’s Joker need to stop by and give you a hand with his joy buzzer?

Generous opening in the back. Very form fitting. Enclosed with a set of snaps. The BASA body is very similar to a Type 2 MEGO body, though a bit lighter and wigglier.

SEE BELOW) It's a rigid plastic belt with a well-defined buckle. The belt is cinched in the rear within one of two separate openings. BASA bodysuits are very snug, even more so than a MEGO bodysuit. Shorts are the same material as the bodysuit.

MAJOR UPDATE and Correction: He has a very MEGO belt.

Thanks to a fellow collector, we have been informed BASA Batman has his own UNIQUE belt! How cool is that? In this case, we love to be proven wrong. It's all a voyage of discovery.

No figure represents such an absolute obsession quite like this Peruvian BASA Robin.

As each rediscovered BASA figure presented itself in the mid to late 2000’s, collectors were salivating all over themselves. The discovery craze was on! Each of us felt like modern day explorers. Who would be the first to lay their claim on these familiar friends from a foreign land? First, there was the wild-eyed Superman. Then shortly afterward, Batman made his appearance. It was only a matter of time, thought the excited MEGOheads. Where is he? No toy company would release a Batman without a Robin. That’s like Peanut Butter without Jelly. Sonny without Cher. Simon without. . . uh, the Other Simon.

And then he showed. BASA Robin poked out from the Baticueva. On that day, it was possible to hear the collective sighs of relief. Seeing BASA Robin for the first time is difficult for most to describe. It was like the first time hearing Nirvana’s hit song, “Smells like Teen Spirit”, when we were so accustomed to late 80’s Glam Rock. It flew in the face of convention. A Robin with boots? Is this for real? Maybe it’s a custom figure!? Nope, no way, it’s no custom. Then, after the shock came the attempt at acceptance. Do I like this? Can I embrace something other than the Glam of MEGO Robin?  Yes. YES! I don’t just like him. I LOVE him! He’s no passing phase. No flash in the pan. No one-hit-wonder. He is a classic! A hit! And the World of WorldMEGO changed that day, but the Song still remains the Same.

Oh, and remind us to tell you a funny story one day about those silly looking green electrical tape bracelets on BASA Robin’s wrists. You might have thought that some creative Peruvian kid put them on his Super Hero action figure, but no, they’re actually from the factory. Yeah, make sure you leave them on.

Also seen are the original bracelets, which are essentially tape.	The back and sides of the BASA box is a collage of stock images also seen on MEGO and Lili Ledy boxes. This box represents the ULTIMATE in rarity. A loose incomplete BASA Robin hardly ever shows up. Rockin' Robin!

Lili Ledy Batman, is he the path to WorldMEGO enlightenment or a hurdle?

Each of us ventures into the land of WorldMEGO for our own reasons. For our beloved Heath Smith, the first time he saw Lili Ledy Batman caused his head to spin.

Heath writes: He was so . . .different. That’s the kindest way I can put it. I could imagine him being the odd man out for the Mexican Justice League, like some awkward prepubescent getting passed over for when they made the teams for kickball. Or maybe it goes like this:

Ledy Wonder Woman asks, “Whose day is it to watch Ledy Batman?”
“Not mine,” says Ledy Superman.
“Give him a ball, a stick and some chocolate milk and he’ll be entertained for hours,” she cheekily suggests.
Ledy Superman retorts, “Yeah, all the while he’ll be quietly singing the Batman tune. Da na Na na na na Na na . . .I’m Batman.”

Heath continued his musing on the matter: Poor Lili Ledy Batman. He tries so hard–beckoning each one of us to play with him, to meet his friends and expand our horizons, to think outside of the window box, and just to love him exactly as he is. There comes a moment of pride after the prejudice. I had to jump the hurdles of bias in order to land on the path of WorldMEGO enlightenment and enter a whole new world of MEGO possibilities.

I chose “YES, I will love you as you are, Lili Ledy Bats!” and I’m so glad that I did. The question is, can you?

Thanks to the huge popularity of the character, Ledy Batman saw many different variations in suit styles over the years.

It always pays off to go "first version" with any figure. Just look at those early curves!

The thicker eggshaped ovalness makes it more delectable. Notice the yellow yolk color.

As the years past, his emblem looked more MEGO USA. Perhaps this was a move to unify the MEGO look across borders.

The highly coveted Lili Ledy gloves are based heavily on the MEGO Oven Mitt gloves. Two differences are that the "fins" on this one are visible but uncut. The "fins" also number fewer than the USA MEGO Oven Mitt.

Early black Synthetic Velvet shorts came with a sewn-on Synthetic Velvet belt. Velcro in the back has the patented "tearing sound". Later editions of the shorts had no sewn-on belt and were paired with those groovy solid rubber Lili Ledy belts that make Bryan's heart swoon.

Time for Ledy Batman to go night night. No drinking before bed or you'll wet your Batman long johns. All joking aside, this represents a Type 2 Ledy Batman suit. The weave isn't nearly as loose as the Type 1 suit, but not quite as tight as the Type 3. Seems like many of the Lili Ledy Type 1 and Type 2 suits have shorter sleeves.

You would half expect an "Escape Hatch" in the back. You get a nice look of the typical "Ledy Loop" enclosure, which makes removing the suit quite a bit more difficult compared to its MEGO counterpart with larger enclosure. These Type 2 bodysuits don't appear to be very common.

Ledy Batman got the special treatment with belt variations. The top belt is seen the most, and that is to say not often. The ridged styles are as rare as they are awesome, which is to say: the middle and bottom belts are BURNING HUNKS of awesome and DEAFENINGLY RARE in collections (um, yeah, you are looking at the only two known examples as of this writing).

Batman sports a BatWave cut typical Lili Ledy vinyl cape. One side is smooth while the other is textured (or perhaps matte style). Ledy Capes are Tres cool. MEGO should have stuck with it.

Indebted for life with thanks to our Super Amigo Luis Felipe (aka Tarzan), we have our eyes fixed up a wonderfully beautiful boxed Lili Ledy Batman. While MEGO used an enclosed box with a cellophane window, Ledy kept their package open and sealed the whole box in plastic.

Lili Ledy used the same stock back panel image as the MEGO Batman box. Well, that's it for this delicious WorldMEGO segment and our very own Heath Smith just wants to say one more thing: Thank you Lili Ledy Batman. Thanks for allowing me to see past your gimp mask and hapless expression. To know you as you truly are. . . the Ambassador of Lili Ledy Super Heroes, even if your name tag is in crayon. Now have some more chocolate milk.

For those of us who collect these lovely Lili Ledy figures, finding a complete one can prove quite difficult. Robin just isn’t Robin if he doesn’t have nine parts to chase after, not including his head and body. Sometimes a little luck is needed to complete one of these neat lookin’ guys. Should a Lili Ledy Robin ever show up on market, it’s usually with a bodysuit and maybe a pair of boots. Yet a pair of pajamas and a pair of red clodtrompers a Ledy Robin does not make! At the very least, he needs a vest, a nice chic Synthetic Velvet Vest! Come on!

Donning the Red Vest, this young whippersnapper is no longer Ricardo Tapia (Dick Grayson). Suddenly, he’s the Dynamic partner of Bruno Diaz (Bruce Wayne). But something is still missing. Lessee . . .Green Bodysuit, check. Red Boots, check. Oh-so-svelte Synthetic Red Velvet Vest with Oversized Oval “R”, check. What’s missing? OH! He’s going to need a belt. One can’t go fight crime looking sloppy. Ledy Robin, Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Shazam all share the same belt, so the odds of finding one just exponentially increased. Phew!

But after Lili Ledy Robin borrows a belt from one of his Super Amigos, still are left a few challenges. No self-respecting Superhero would ever chance death without a cape. But if Ledy Robin doesn’t have his own, it’s got to come from somewhere. Got it! Time to see Ledy Shazam, who is his only compadre to share the elusive Yellow Vinyl Cape. Well, maybe when Shazam transforms back into Memo Batson (Billy Batson), Robin can sneak in and borrow the cape.

OK, now that he’s dressed and ready for action, it’s time for Robin to slide down the Batpole. No . . .wait . . .blisters. Ouch! Ledy Robin is going to need some gloves and they HAVE to match the style of Ledy Batman’s gloves. It’s an unwritten rule of sidekicks. Something has to match. Blue may work for Batman, but only Red will do for Robin. With none of his own, Ledy Robin sets out on a new search. Not an easy search in the least. But wait! Ledy Capitan America shares gloves with Ledy Robin?! Oooh oooh!! How about that! Oh, hmmm. But. . . maybe . . .maybe. Could our Robin be so lucky?

Mexican Captain America (heh heh) certainly has a pair of gloves, but do they match Robin’s gloves? Hmmm, they are red. Great! And bonus, they’re exactly the same solid molded “fin fringe” style.  Yes! BINGO, it’s a perfect match!! Only problem is that El Capitan often needs them for his own photo shoots. Bummer. Looks like it’s time for Robin to just put on his Green Elf shoes and take the stairs. Now where did those shoes go, anyhow? Hmmm, well at least he can borrow them from . . .uh . . .lessee there’s . . .errr . . .nobody.

Oh no! It looks like Lili Ledy Robin’s luck may have finally run out.

Nothing says 1970's Mexican Chic quite like a Red Synthetic Velvet Vest. Oooooh, cuddly and cozy Synthetic Velvet Robin RedBreast RedVest.	Robin shares gloves with Lili Ledy Capitan America and tries not to give them back but is always caught red-handed.
Robin can wear either standard Ledy Hero Boots in Red (no top ridges) or Green Elf Shoes. We wonder if the size of the green shoe suggests that it had its own mold or if there was a full-size boot made in green and then cut with a machine at an angle. Your thoughts?	Ledy Robin shares a cape with Ledy Shazam. It's all vinyl with a light matte texture on one side and slick on the other.
Type 3 Lili Ledy Robin bodysuit. Material is mostly polyester. Weave is very tight compared to a Type 1 and Type 2 bodysuit. These seem to be the most common of all the bodysuit styles. Don't get too excited though. They're ALL tough to find.	The back of this Type 3 outfit doesn't have a set of snaps, though a Type 3 Robin bodysuit has been known to be officially released without snaps from time to time. Probably a cost-saving method that worked because the vest covered the back.
Thanks to Luis Felipe, here's a Super Shot of a Type 1 Lili Ledy Robin in a sealed box! Yes, you should be flipping out right now! Go!	Ledy Robin Box uses stock images also seen on the back of MEGO boxes. But where else can you see a vintage green twist tie protruding from the back of a toy! WOOT!

What an exciting day for MEGO Fans!

Thanks to WorldMEGO “Super Collector” Luis Felipe, we now have images of the never-before-seen MEGO “World’s Greatest Super Knights” Black Knight Jousting Horse Cover. Never produced in the USA, but seen here in the following 1975 MEGO catalog picture (courtesy of http://www.megomuseum.com), MEGOheads everywhere can now confidently continue the hunt for more examples.

It is our great pleasure to present this to WorldMEGO fans. Now the Jousting Tournament can begin! Will Ivanhoe defend the Honor of the Lady Guinevere and the Glory of King Arthur? Or will the Insidious Plans of the Evil Black Knight foil the day? Slap in a few ‘D’ batteries and let’s find out.

The Black “cap” that hides the stallion’s head differs from the Red “cap” on the horse pictured in the catalog. Everything else, including the grommet-esque eye and ear holes, appears to look the same. It’s not uncommon, though, for production items to vary from prototype catalog shots. We greatly welcome theories and discussion.

The birth of this blog post went like this: Just the other night, the WorldMEGO staff went about their business sharing pictures and discussing toys when Luis Felipe sent Bryan and Heath a picture that made time stop. We instantly recognized the significance of the Horse Cover to the MEGO Hobby. Please whoop it up as we all share in the Joy of this Discovery! This is HUGE! It was in 2002 when Luis Felipe purchased this Prime Piece at a Flea Market (tianguis) in Mexico. The MEGO Stallion’s broken leg prompted a successful price negotiation (regateo). Go, Luis Felipe, Go!! All that’s left is to replace the Action Stallion! Though, of course, it’s also quite cool to keep the original pieces together. But either way, man, wow! We are still stunned!

For several of the Lili Ledy figures, wonderful variations exist among the editions of the suits. But, how does one tell the differences and know for sure what you own? After some careful consultation with WorldMEGO Super Collector Luis Felipe, we happily present a friendly guide. Check out these other Lili Ledy Suit Variations and try to figure out which suit is pictured above.

Type 1 Lili Ledy Aquaman suit. How do we know it's Type 1? The easiest giveaway is the wide ribbing of the suit. Upon closer inspection, we also notice a very loose weave. On really close inspection, we can sorta see little bits of cotton fuzz on the edges of the outfit. This would indicate a high cotton content, perhaps 100%. Also notice the heavy stitching around the neck. The overall feel of the suit is very soft if you rub your fingers across it.

Type 2 Lili Ledy Batman. What gives this away? We still have the soft feel associated with the Type 1 outfit, but not quite as soft. A bit more roughness is detected. This would indicate a cotton/polyester blend. Also, the weave is MUCH tighter than Type 1. The neck opening has a cleaner look without the heavy stitching of the Type 1.

Type 3 Lili Ledy Robin. Here we start to see a bit of a difference. These outfits seem closer to MEGO outfits. They have a MUCH higher percentage of synthetic materials. The way we know is the sight and feel test. Upon really close inspection, we hardly see the cotton fuzz associated with the Type 1 suit. Also, run your finger across the suit and it feels decidedly rougher than the Type 2 outfit. Weave is very tight compared to the first two outfits.

 

So, what’s the verdict? My Lili Ledy Superman has an overall clean and smooth appearance without the heavy neck stitching of Type 1. The feel test detected some roughness to the suit, even a bit rougher than Type 2. Hardly any cotton fuzz on close inspection. Plus, the weave is very tight. Much tighter than Type 1 or Type 2. Looks like the Lili Ledy Superman I own at the top is a Type 3!!! We here at WorldMEGO appreciate your comments and anything you’d like to add to the test. Another great mystery surrounds the minds and ‘maginations of WorldMEGOheads. Here we have a very unusual, yet totally wonderful Superman purchased by WorldMEGO Super Collector Luis Felipe. He’s done his homework, as the following text and pictures will show, but you be the judge.

This is a 9″ Superman purchased  from a collector in Argentina who said it was from Uruguay. If so, this would be the first WorldMEGO style Super Hero to ever come out of that country. Finds from South America are definitely not unheard of with the recent Peruvian offerings from BASA of El Hombre Nuclear (Six Million Dollar Man), Batman, Robin and Superman. Even though the seller of this odd SuperSpecimen claimed origin in Uruguay, Luis realized almost immediately a very close resemblance to a character called “Daredevil” made by “Model Toys” in England. Take a good look at these comparison pics.

Brazilian Superman has very unusual Flocked Hair.

The similarities are Uncanny, but without any markings on the figure we’re still left with a mystery. This figure also begs the question, “Are there OTHERS??” Could we see a Flocked Hair Robin or a Bendy Armed Batman in the future? We will certainly dream well tonight!

Here we have the always interesting Ensueño Superman made in Mexico, with Fly-Away Action!

The figure is 13 inches tall. The body is blow molded and is very light. The bodysuit is a rough fabric and the boots are screwed on to the body in order to properly house the wiring that runs in back and through the left leg. A small propeller sits on the bottom of the left foot and with the battery properly inserted in back and the switch enabled, the propeller turns and Superman can fly. You just need one more piece of Fly-Away Action on top of him. Through the cape, which has a slit ready, you feed a string and tie it to the back of the figure right along the waistline and off he goes at 0.7 miles per hour!

The one pictured on the left has an original cape. Both have original heads, bodies, suits, belts and boots. Emblems on both are likely reproductions. Below are pictures of the back and the original caped example with the original diamond-shaped slit in that cape to pass the string through.

The head sculpt is impressive and the Superman head has been known to go gray more than the other Ensueño figures, such as Batman, Spiderman, Mighty Mouse and PlasticMan.

It is interesting to note that the feet are nothing more than square stumps inside of those boots.

Be careful, his packaging is really a phone booth! What a fine idea! "Articulado" refers to how his limbs can move like the 12" Chewbacca, but everyone was very excited about five points of articulation back then. "Vuela de Verdad" tells us that Superman REALLY FLIES! The device really will blow your mind. Check the next photo!

I would kill to have been in the R&D room when this idea was pitched.

. . . or is he using Heat Vison? Maybe he actually does have a “Pocketful of Kryptonite”. . .  Well, one way or another he’s looking at me funny, like some kind of wild-eyed cashier during the graveyard shift at Home Depot.

Who would’ve thought some 30 years after production, collectors would Rediscover this whole exciting line of Super Heroes from Peru? Each figure borrows a bit from MEGO and a bit from Lili Ledy, but they are ALL BASA. Just look to the head sculpt for a quick reminder that this is not your S.S. Kresge nostalgia. This is WorldMEGO, baby!

The boots are more MEGO-y, and the belts are more Ledy-y, as are the bodysuits. But while MEGO gave us mostly Nylon based capes and Lili Ledy gave us Vinyl capes, BASA gave us very wonderful stitched Cloth capes.

Production values seem quite high on these figures compared to Lili Ledy. They lack the overall refinement of MEGO, but aren’t quite as rough around the edges as their Mexican counterparts. BASA Superman was the first to reveal himself to the WorldMEGO collectors. Followed shortly by Batman and finally Robin. A complete collection is quite an accomplishment, as very few of these ever show up at market. Information on this era of BASA seems nonexistent. Here we see Triple H with a beautiful example of BASA Superman's original boots. Notice the 3 ridges at the top. MEGO boots have 2 ridges and are very similar in size and shape.

Notice the sewn-on sleeves and the thick collar. Finished off with a repro emblem.

Able to don the suit with a Single Snap. So tight, it must be aerodynamic.

OK Triple H, don't get too attached to BASA Superman's original cape. Just because he let you borrow it doesn't mean he doesn't want it back. Neat-o woven cloth texture.

Silly Hippie. Belts are for people with pants. Notice the two separate holes to cinch the belt. It only seems to work on the larger setting, however. The scaly look and the deep indent on the buckle separate this belt from the more rubbery Lili Ledy belts.

Unfortunately, most searches for BASA Superman will net you this. . . BASABaby! We already have a team of experts wondering if that Baby Doll (Apachurrito) emblem will work for an 8" action figure.

I took the time to dress up Lili Ledy Superman with one of his original style Ledy Emblems. While most original Lili Ledy emblems are missing, we WorldMEGOheads make do with reproductions like this one. Either way, it gives him a cool air of authenticity.

You have to love a Superhero that wears velour underpants on the outside. Yes, you really do. All that groovy fuzz is probably what drew me to Ledy in the first place.  You don’t have to tell your friends he’s a Mexican Superman from the 1970’s. Somehow they just know. Look!! Up in the Sky!! It’s a Bird. It’s a Plane. Nah, it’s just Erik Estrada doing another infomercial.

And now watch as we undress Superman bit by bit. He’s tough. He can take it. Plus, the only person watching is a headless eight-inch action figure with white underwear on.

Somehow he looks a little less super in his Pajamas. You wonder sometimes if these weren't stitched by hand. This represents a Type 3 Suit. Its notable differences from a Type 1 or 2 suit is the use of a more synthetic blend versus more cotton blend material for Type 1 or 2.

A single snap adorns the famous "Ledy Loop". Another notable difference in Type 1,2 or 3 suits are the tightness of weave. Here we see in this Type 3 has a much tighter weave than the heavily ribbed versions of the Type 1 suits. Type 2 suits are much closer to Type 3 suits in comparison, but the Type 3 suits seem to use more synthetic materials and are much smoother.

A texture shot of the cape, which typically has one smooth side and another with a matte-like finish, or one that has more friction when you rub finger against it.

Belts are quite rubbery with a smooth texture. Buckle small indent on the inner square. Like BASA, there are two loopholes and the last one works for all male Ledy Super Amigos. Perhaps we ought to try the first loop around a SuperChica!

Boots lack the ridges at the top associated with their Mego and BASA Counterparts. Lili Ledy boots are also shorter (we're talkin' millimeters, though a quick spot check for a con job is that all original Ledy boots fit nicely underneath the Ledy kneecaps); also Ledy boots are wider than MEGO and BASA footwear.

Here's a great addition to this segment. Thanks to Luis, we have a varied assortment of original Lili Ledy Superman emblems. Now to talk him out of one.

Here’s an odd one. It feels like a Japanese wind-up toy, but they turn up mostly in Italy nowadays. The head is definitely a squishy soft recasted MEGO Superman with no copyright markings on the neck. Everything about the look of the face is a perfect match. He really does wind up and drive around a bit. And why should he not? Superman gets better service at Mel’s Diner with his wheels anyhow.

No copyright information on the neck. It uses a MEGOesque plug to sit securely inside the robot torso.

Lili Ledy Superman, now this is one cool MEGO figure! We just love him so much around here at WorldMEGO. Starting at the top, one favorite aspect about him is that his head sculpt gets around to Shazam and Aquaman, with just one alteration each (hair style change for Shazam and ear change for Aquaman). Now, while the focus of this particular page is certainly on the Ledy belts, it’s hard to pass up a chance to talk about the bodysuits. There are three distinct types. The one on the left is the early edition, the one in the middle is the transitional edition, and the one on the right is the final edition. We have another page describing these in more detail, but suffice to say that while I simply go ga-ga for the Type One wide-ribbed suits, I also have been known to excessively drool for the Type Three suits because you get those great rubbery plastic accessory belts with that edition. Okay, now we have some focus on the belts.

When the belt in the middle showed up on the marketplace, it was BUY BUY BUY time, just for a chance to inspect it in person. With the comparison of his flanked partners’ belts, that middle belt is definitely doin’ his own thing, but yet still something charmingly Ledy surrounds the flavor of the pleather and makes a person wonder, just wonder, could it be original? It is sewn on in a most peculiar manner (some thin thread belt “loops” through which to “pass the belt” as though it were a belt for a human) and if you have any information or thoughts about this, we really want to hear from you!
